This baby was a total surprise, if you had you asked me about babies any time before December 26th I would have said
something like... "We are thinking to start trying in about 3 years or so" But God had other plans for us, His timing is perfect and this was the best surprise I could've received! So I decided to write down some facts about my first trimester just because these are things I don't want to forget.
I refused to take a pregnancy test because "I knew" I was not pregnant. I thought I was just a couple days late but Arturo kept insisting I take one so I finally gave in and we went to Kroger. I got the cheapest pregnancy test I could find, just to show him I wasn't pregnant. We went home and I took the pregnancy test and there it was... two pink lines!
After finding out we were pregnant, we started thinking about ways to tell our parents and we decided we would do it the upcoming Saturday (December 31st), which turned into the next day because I couldn't keep a secret that BIG and just had to tell them!
First we told my parents. We got a little box filled with yellow shredded paper to cover a pacifier and a note hidden near the bottom of the box. We told them it was their Hanukkah gift before we gave it to them and when they opened the box they thought it was a joke until my dad got a hold of the note and started crying. It was a very emotional moment, I tear up every time I watch the video we recorded.
We told Arturo's parents on December 28th, we were celebrating my mother-in-law's birthday at Bahama Breeze Restaurant so it wasn't hard to disguise the little box as another present. We told his parents this one present was for both of them, as they opened the box and saw the shredded paper they also thought it was a joke until they found and read the note. His mom screamed "I'm going to be a grandma" in Spanish as people at the restaurant clapped and cheered.
The following nights I would lay in bed and I read things about pregnancy and babies until I fell asleep. I would think about my baby and imagine how it would feel like to hold him or her.
About six weeks into my pregnancy I started having morning sickness and a couple weeks after that it turned into all day sickness. I wasn't able to keep anything in my stomach, so my doctor prescribed a nausea pill which helped a little until it gave me really bad stomach aches so I just stopped taking the pills all together and resorted to alternative medicine which has helped tremendously!
Fatigue also started around week six, I would come home from work feeling exhausted and just lay down in bed for a "little" and literally fall asleep within 5 minutes. And that happened anytime I would lay down somewhere.
Our baby is due in August, if Baby's birth date is in fact in August, he or she will share the birthday month with Arturo.
All my meals have been bland and the only thing I have craved so far has been potatoes. I've tried eating fries also but my stomach does not like it one bit.
My sense of smell has increased to x100, which sometimes doesn't help with the nausea.
People keep telling me that things will be better second trimester and I do hope so! I have been counting the days till I hit 12 weeks.
That's it for now, I really hope to have the strength to write about my second and third trimester. As of right now all I want to do is sleep!
